A Blue Zones
Mindful Exploration

"Translucent cerulean seas. Russet craggy coasts. Sparkling white-quartz beaches. Moody, mountainous interiors. From the rustling vineyards to its bursting, vibrant culture, Sardinia is the Mediterranean dream."

-Lonely Planet

Matched with delicious food and the most flavonoid-rich wine anywhere, this is a land of rich history and rugged beauty.

It's also renowned as an island of longevity as studied and noted in the Blue Zones.

Join me in a Blue Zone immersion, right in the heart of it all, Sardinia. We'll experience first-hand how to live longer and better, not through pills, surgery or meds, but through the food they eat, the company they keep and the mindset & perspective they adopt.

If you're ready to explore and savour life as a Mindful Foodie, immersed in rich culture,  then I'd love you to join me in Alghero, Sardinia, Italy, in June 2024.

It's a dream of mine to bring people together around the table, to taste joy, to hear laughter, to savour and appreciate the subtle beauty that is always around us.

That's what Mindfulness truly is. That's what it means to be a Mindful Foodie.

Mindfulness in everyday life doesn't mean we have to give up the joy of a delicious meal shared with friends and a glass of wine.

In fact, it allows us to enjoy it even more!

Think of your favourite food moment. I know you have one.

Chances are that you were practicing the art of Mindfulness, whether you realised it or not.

You were truly present for every mouthful, for the textures, tastes and smells.

The Cuisine

‘Organic’ and ‘slow food’ are modern-day buzzwords for what Sardinia has been doing for centuries.

Trawl the interior for farms selling their own pecorino, salami and full-bodied Cannonau red wines; buy artistic looking loaves and almondy sweets from bakeries and confectioners in Cagliari and Nuoro; and tuck into a smorgasbord of seafood. Sample the lot at a rustic agriturismo.

Sweet, buttery ricotta, lobster, red prawns and mullet from the Med, wild thyme, rosemary, myrtle and juniper, sun-ripened olives and citrus fruits, farm-raised lamb and suckling pig cooked on an open spit – nowhere does slow food like Sardinia. Throw in mountain and sea views, fine home-produced wines, own takes on pasta and winningly fresh farm produce and you are looking at a great culinary experience. Simple but great.

A land of longevity, cradle of food and wine traditions with a simple and marked character, when it comes to flavours Sardinia needs no introduction. The abundance of sunlight and a pristine environment bestow unique and genuine flavours to our products from the land and sea. Close your eyes and start savouring...

People live longer in Sardinia because they eat better!

Alghero, often referred to as one of Sardinia's prettiest towns, with her golden sea walls, built around the centro storico by the Aragonese in the 16th century, are a highlight of the town's historic cityscape.

Running from Piazza Sulis in the south to Porta a Mare and the marina in the north, they're crowned by a pedestrianised path that commands superb views over to Capo Caccia on the blue horizon.

Cobbled caramel coloured streets are shaded by Gothic Palazzi and enlivened by busy squares bubbling with the restaurants and bars that line the walkway, providing the perfect perch to sit back and lap up the holiday atmosphere. Perhaps sipping a cocktail as you watch the sun set over the ocean?

I'm thinking the daily produce market in the heart of the old town is a must one morning for our days deliciousness.

A short trip from Alghero finds us at Porto Conte & Capo Caccia Known more poetically as the Baia delle Ninfe (Bay of Nymphs), Porto Conte is a lovely unspoiled bay, its blue waters home to an armada of bobbing yachts and its green shores thick with mimosa and eucalyptus trees. Much of the bay, including Capo Caccia, the dramatic headland that marks its southernmost point, is covered by a regional nature reserve. The scenery around here is superb as towering white cliffs sheer up from impossibly blue waters and thrilling seascapes unfurl at every turn

Your Accommodation

Our Private Renovated 19th Century Villa

Casal Paternò di Alghero is a historic residence of the late nineteenth century, formerly the church of the Purissima, located in the Angeli Custodi region, a panoramic area on the hills of the Riviera del Corallo, not far from the town and the beach.

The center of Alghero and the beach can be reached in just 5 minutes by car.

In this villa, (that we have to ourselves!) you can enjoy the taste of a holiday in a historic Italian home.

The Villa, owned by the Paternò family and recently restored following the taste of tradition, boasts the advantage of being one of the best restored and guarded period residences on the coast.

It also boasts a beautiful location in the lush hillside vegetation and offers an enchanting view of the countryside and the internal garden with a private swimming pool where you can chill with a vino and a book. There is also a large gazebo and an outdoor kitchen where we'll be creating some food alchemy to eat outside covered by the gazebo.

Hello

My name is Lisa Marie Staab

Conscious Living Mentor & Mindful Foodie

Certified Mindfulness, Meditation & Wellness Mentor, Member of Meditation Australia, Trained Chef & actually also have a Diploma of International Travel - because why not right?!

Clearly, I'm addicted to learning - in fact, it's a core value.

As is freedom, traveling and spreading some joy in the world.

I also happen to be a mother to two (adult & teenager), am a committed life adventurer & ex-corporate chick who enjoys real food and the odd glass of wine... along with a good belly laugh.

I've been holding regular Retreats as well as being more recently entrenched in learning and teaching the principles of the Blue Zones (think longevity) along with bringing Mindfulness Principles into everyday,  REAL LIFE.
